What are three words that best describe the makeup at the Dior haute couture show? “Fabulous, glowy, and smoky”, according to Peter Philips. The makeup artist gave Vogue the lowdown on how to achieve this smoky look in 4 easy steps.

Discover how to recreate the perfect smoky eye seen at the Dior show in 4 steps.
1. Apply a line of kohl from the base of the lashes to the outer corner, extending a little beyond. Since the lash line is “greasy,” the liner is especially malleable and can be blended into a smudgy effect. Blend the entire line.
2. Choose a fluffy brush and saturate it with deep black eyeshadow, and apply it across the entire lid.
3. Then dab a tiny touch of silver eyeshadow to the inner corners of the eye, to add a pop of light.
4. Finally, apply a thin veil of moisturizing cream over the entire eyelid to create a dewy, fresh effect.
The rest of the look should be kept very simple with such a strong look. For the lips, just add a touch of nude lipstick for a natural but sophisticated effect. Dior’s Nude Fauve is the perfect shade to achieve this.

As for the face, opt for a natural but luminous foundation, like Dior’s new Forever Skin Glow nude, which delivers a radiant finish, which is a key trend for next season: “I’ve done a lot of interviews for Asia and I can just feel it. Everything is glowy, the complexion, the lips, the eyes, the light, it’s the buzzword for the season.” The final look is a soft satin finish all over the face and is “more glamorous than a simple nude.” It’s the kind of “jazzy night club” makeup that we’ll be seeing everywhere this summer.
